Textile and Digital Design

The transformation of beds into dual purposes—as functional objects and beautiful respites—began as early as 3400 BC, when Egyptians raised their beds off the ground and adorned them with ornamental hangings and linens. This regalia for beds was seen as a symbol of light, purity, and prosperity, and the demand for places of respite that are functional, comfortable, and beautiful continues today.

As a long-time fiber artist, I create art-forward, thoughtfully curated bed runners, pillows, and quilts that offer a stylish and beautiful refresh to your bedding, using unique colors, patterns, and textures. Each item is one-of-a-kind, and the designs are the result of careful customization using a variety of approaches, resulting in products that range from vibrant to modern to playful to traditional.

While I held a long-time career in data analytics and education, my avocation has always been fiber art. Knowing that I am a maker at heart, and my long-held desire to uplift and inspire others, I launched Bosbyshell Art & Home to fuel both of these lifelong passions. Balance is something we all work to achieve in our lives, and it is often elusive. I believe that balance as a design approach can lead to balance in our lives, and that balance in our lives can enhance our sense of joy and peace. This belief is at the center of my design philosophy.

My years spent with textiles and fibers has allowed me to refine my process for this endeavor—a process that begins with a careful selection of luxurious fabrics sourced from a variety of reputable sources. Print, texture, color, and style are all critical elements in my work, and all elements that create both a visual and sensory experience.

Customizing commercial fabric is my specialty, and I employ a variety of both traditional and contemporary methods to achieve this customization, including using Kool-aid and spices for more color options, along with more conventional dyeing techniques. My ability to be resourceful and thoughtful about the design and color results in sometimes unexpected but always striking designs.

I also strongly emphasize my art’s ability to uplift places of respite and add spark to otherwise utilitarian spaces. We are all visual by nature, and my designs provide an immediate sense of harmony and comfort that many of us lack in our busy, hectic lives—and exactly what we need when we walk into our bedrooms.

Having a positive impact on others, especially for such a personal space, brings me great joy. When others allow me to share my passion and then support it, we become inspired and connected. Through that inspiration and connection, the world becomes a better, more beautiful place.
